Rebar and pencil. View of the installation.
Qui e’ altrove, Palazzo De Santis, Castelbasso. 2009 (selected group exhibitions)
The wall sculptures are made of rebar used in construction. Each work refers to the layout of the first page and last page of The Houston Chronicle where I take the layout of the newspaper, empty out the content and highlight the plan. In the same way rebar holds a building up, the layout of a newspaper houses the content. Both rebar and layouts are invisible borders that highly structure and produce limits to the use of space. This work can be read as an homage to the newspaper slowly being replaced by the more elastic virtual spaces online.
